Khalid Rashid. "My Butterfly" is a captivating piece that speaks to both the heart and the eye.
I am thrilled to have acquired the original ‘My Butterfly,’ to my collection. A stunning and captivating piece, created by the truly talented. Khalid Rashid. "My Butterfly" is a captivating piece that speaks to both the heart and the eye. The depth of emotion Khalid Rashid has poured into this work is undeniable; each brushstroke feels intentional, each colour carefully chosen to evoke a sense of movement, grace, and quiet strength. It dances in the sunlight, and its colours whisper to the voyeur.
The palette is both vivid and tender, with layers of rich blues, soft purples, and delicate highlights that create a luminous quality. The butterfly itself seems to hover between reality and dream, drawing the viewer into a world of transformation and beauty. It cleverly evokes an ethereal quality.
What makes this piece even more profound is the story behind it; Khalid dedicates"My Butterfly"to his mother. Knowing this adds an intimate layer to the work, as the butterfly becomes a symbol of love, memory, and enduring connection. It feels like a tribute not only to his mother’s spirit, but to the quiet, yet fierce strength of maternal love.
What sets this painting apart is the artist’s remarkable ability to balance technical skill with emotional expression. There’s a rhythm and fluidity to the composition that suggests both freedom and fragility; reminding us of life’s fleeting moments and the power of stillness.
It’s not just a painting; it’s an experience. I feel incredibly lucky to have this piece in my collection; it brings a quiet joy to the room and never fails to draw admiration. Khalid Rashid, where has this artist been? This level of talent should not remain Birmingham’s best kept secret for much longer.

It just gets better...
I’ve been looking at Khalid Rashed’s art for the past few years now and it just gets better. It’s really out of this world what to say. He’s as good as the greats if not better and just because his name is not European should not mean that he can’t be recognised as a world or international artist. These paintings are more than good enough to be in gallery’s such as Tate Briton, The National gallery as well as the portrait gallery The Courtauld plus The Royal Academy to mention a few. I know he is known in Birmingham and London and now he is ready for the world. You can see the development in his work from the past to now. His Portraits look like sculptures and so real anyone who can do that in my view should be up there with the greats. I can see these developing into painting like Rubin’s in the future in left speechless when I see his work. He should be given a change to exhibit his work at one off the most popular art gallery’s in London and then the USA. This is just the beginning.
